Music at The Grove

The Music Room is excited to partner with The Grove School to provide high-quality, on-location music instruction during the school day. Our team of instructors are dedicated to building strong foundations in music while making lessons engaging and fun for Grove students!

Founded in 2012 by Mark Lucas, The Music Room has been a cornerstone of the Leeds community for over a decade. In addition to lessons at our downtown studio, we proudly provide weekly music programs for The Arc of Central Alabama, the Allan Cott School and Journey Academy of Glenwood Autism, and Ady’s Big Army.

We are proud of our strong ties to the Leeds community, to the Leeds and Moody school systems, and to the Leeds Arts Council. We are glad to be adding The Grove to that list!

Lessons Offered – Fall 2025:

  • Students may register for:

    • Private Lessons (30 minutes) – Piano, Voice, Guitar, Ukulele, Banjo, Bass

    • Group Lessons (45 minutes) – Guitar and Ukulele (exclusive to The Grove!)

    Looking ahead: Drum lessons and a potential choir program may be offered next semester, pending interest and instructor availability.

    🌳 Grove Perk: Group lessons are offered only at The Grove — they’re not available in our studio!

How It Works

  • Lessons are held during the school day on The Grove campus.

  • Students are pulled from class at a designated time each week.

  • A piano and backup stringed instruments are available, but we encourage students to bring their own instrument if possible.

  • Students will practice at home using instructor notes to ensure steady progress.

  • Students deemed “ready” by their instructor may perform at Music Room events, including the Winter Concert!

    🌳 Grove Perk: A free method book (if applicable) and music folder are included to get you started.

Pricing and Policies:

Because The Grove program is held on campus, pricing and policies are different from our in-studio lessons.

♪ Private Lessons (30 minutes): $145/month flat rate
♫ Group Lessons (45 minutes): $120/month flat rate
Group lessons require at least three students enrolled per instrument type (guitar, ukulele, or bass).

  • Absences & Closures

    • Instructor Absences: Rescheduled or money credited toward next month’s tuition

    • Student Absences: Not eligible for rescheduling or discounts

    • Holiday Closures: Posted HERE, not eligible for discounts or rescheduling

🌳 Grove Perk: Parents may use the My Music Staff online portal if they wish — but Grove families are not required to use it.

Billing

  • Billing is handled directly by The Music Room.

  • Tuition is billed via auto-pay on the 1st of each month through My Music Staff.

  • You’ll receive account access after registration to view invoices and update payment info.

  • Students starting mid-month will be prorated and billed after their first lesson.

🌳 Grove Perk: Grove students pay no registration fee (a $25 savings).
